In the colonies, Afro-cultural expressions were brutally suppressed and even outlawed by the authorities. Roots, language, and religion were stripped away, and even dance and music faced ruthless punishment. Thankfully, various cultural and ritual dance styles triumphed over oppression.

Caribbean and Brazilian Carnival keeps these traditions alive.
Roots of Carnival is a breathtaking show that shows these grand carnival traditions, stemming from the rich African culture. It's not just a show; it's an explosion of culture, history and passion.
