For this exclusive interview, Fabriek69 brings the American Ph.D Jackson Katz to the Netherlands. Jackson Katz, Ph.D., is internationally renowned for his pioneering scholarship and activism on issues of gender, race and violence. This exclusive interview will take place on September 8th from 20.00 to 21.30. Questions will be asked by journalist Maartje Laterveer and there will be plenty of room to ask your questions afterwards.
As mentioned, Jackson is an author and social theorist internationally known for his pioneering studies and activism in the fields of gender, race and violence. He has long been an important figure and leader in the growing global movement of men working to promote gender equality and prevent gender violence.
Katz is the founder of “Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP),” one of the most influential gender violence prevention programs in the US and the 1st major program in sports, culture and military. MVP introduced the "bystander approach" within the field of sexual assault. Furthermore, Katz is the author of multiple books, including ‘The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women and How All Men Can Help'.
The webinar will be about the male role in domestic and sexual violence. Why are men often perpetrators of violence? Where does that originate from? How can we tackle this problem? And how can bystanders act in such situations? Jackson Katz will go in-depth on these topics and talk about it with Maartje.
