Levensweg - Amsterdam

In Levensweg (Path of Life), the VU Chamber Choir explores the great questions of our existence. As Brahms puts it: Warum is das Licht gegeben? (Why is the Light Given?). In other words: where can we find meaning in life?

The program guides us past modern answers to this eternal question, by contemporary composers such as Caroline Shaw, Stacey Garrop, Libby Larsen, and Pēteris Vasks. Highlights include the world premieres of pieces by Kate Moore and Georgi Sztojanov. Where Moore emphasizes the simplicity of existence, Sztojanov explores its versatility. The choreographer Hillary Blake Firestone literally sets this search in motion.
