On Saturday 18 June we will host the Dutch Premiere of Alexander Kastalsky’s Requiem for Fallen Brothers: een high quality performance with involvement of both professional and amateur singers and a group of string players. The conductor is Leenke de Lege. There will be 95 musicians in total.
Kastalsky wrote his Requiem during WW 1 (the Great War), with the intention to support the soldiers of the different allied nations (the ‘brothers’), to remember the soldiers who died on the battle field and to console their beloved ones.
The piece differs from other requiems in that respect that is doesn’t only contain Catholic but also Anglican and Russian Orthodox elements. Kastalsky used musical themes from the different allied nations.
