Saskia Laroo

Dutch jazz trumpeter, singer, and composer Saskia Laroo is often referred to as the “Lady Miles Davis” because of her energetic and innovative playing style.

She began her musical career relatively late, but quickly developed into a prominent figure on the international jazz scene. Her music is characterized by a blend of traditional jazz, funk, hip-hop, and dance, bridging the gap between classic jazz and modern styles.

Laroo has performed all over the world and collaborated with a wide range of artists across different genres. In addition to her work as a musician, she is known for her improvisational talent and powerful stage presence. She is also active as an organizer and promoter of jazz music, through her own projects and festivals.

Saskia Laroo remains an influential figure in both Dutch and international jazz, with a unique style that transcends genre boundaries.

On Friday, June 5, she returns to the legendary jazz club Casablanca on the Zeedijk during the 13th edition of the Red Light Jazz Festival. She has been connected to this iconic venue for many years. She also performed there at the very first edition of the festival in 2014, and as a proud ambassador of Red Light Jazz, she is delighted to take the stage there once again.
