An intimate, raw, and poetic dive into the final days of a brilliant mind.
In 2026, Oscar Wilde returns to the stage. Not as a writer, but as the protagonist in a gripping new theatre production: The Tragedy of Being Wilde.
After fame, scandal, and imprisonment, Wilde spent his final years in exile in Paris. Poor, ill, and publicly humiliated, but still astute and razor-sharp in his observations. He died in 1900, in a world that understood him too late.
In this English-language production, Barrie Stevens takes on the role of Oscar Wilde. A man who fought his whole life for beauty, truth, and love, and paid the ultimate price.
The Tragedy of Being Wilde is an ode to his genius and his pain. A performance about the power of words, the inevitable decline, and the tragedy of someone who was too early, too free, and too brilliant for his time.
